How to choose golf shoes
You might think any sneakers would do for playing golf (after all there is no running, kicking or jumping!). But this is not the case. If you want to relax and enjoy the game thoroughly, you need to feel comfortable and stable on the ground, and for this you need a well-fitting, supportive and durable pair of shoes.
When selecting a golf shoe do not go for a tight fit. A little extra space – about half an inch – should be provided so that your toes do not feel constricted. Try one shoe first, stand on the foot and see if you’re able to move your toes. Your heel, on the other hand, should be firmly in place. A good golf shoe provides a secure grip on your mid foot for added support during swinging.
To improve your swing, you have to stand firm. For this, you need a spiked sole that gives you the required hold on wet or muddy grass courses. Buy the ones with rubber spikes, as golf courses usually do not allow metal spikes. Choose a flexible sole that bends with your foot.
Above all, the upper part of the shoe should be moisture proof, preferably in leather. Leather is breathable and moulds to your feet. It may be expensive, but it’s well worth the investment.
If you do not plan to use a cart, look for well-cushioned and durable shoes. Docpods offers a variety of orthoses to provide you with the extra cushioning you’ll need for walking long distances on the golf course. It adds to comfort and decreases your chance of developing foot pain and fatigue.
